When You Don’t Know What to Pray For

Posted on March 8, 2015 Written by LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Romans-verseRomans 8:26-27 ~ In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Have you ever had so much going on that you knew you needed to pray but you just weren’t sure what you should be praying for? Should you pray for wisdom, healing, or deliverance? Should you pray for doors to be open or closed or the strength to stand still? Life can come at you in so many ways and directions that it can be difficult to even know what you should pray for. Thankfully, we don’t have to know because the Holy Spirit is there to intercede on our behalf. This scripture reminds us that the Spirit helps us in our weakness. God knows our hearts and without us speaking a word, He can move for us. We just have to trust Him. Trust that He is directing and guiding the situation in the way He has purposed it to be.

So whatever you are struggling with today and you are unsure of what to do, what to pray for, take a moment to stop, quiet your spirit, and allow the Holy Spirit to intercede for you. When you get quiet and surrender, it helps you better hear the will of God. You can then test what you hear in your spirit to God’s word. If it aligns with His word, trust that the Holy Spirit is guiding you. Release the fears, anxieties, and worries. Take the necessary action steps and walk in faith that what God has purposed for you will come to be.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit to intercede on our behalf when we just don’t know what to say, ask or do. We surrender and trust that the Holy Spirit has searched our hearts and is directing us on the path that is in accordance with Your will. Amen.

Purpose in Action: What’s frustrating you? Is there something you just don’t know what you should be praying for or about? Take the time today to get quiet and allow the Holy Spirit to intercede for you.

Change of Season

December 13, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ~ There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Christ was born so that none of us would have to experience the seasons of life alone, whether they are joyous or seasons of sorrow. Just as we have seasons of the year, there are seasons in […]

Overcoming Lonely Places

December 6, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Luke 5:16 ~ But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (NIV) Some of you may be more familiar with the King James translation of this scripture that says Jesus withdrew into the wilderness.  I always just looked at this verse as Jesus taking time to be alone to pray, which we all should […]

Patiently Waiting

November 29, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

James 5:7-8 ~ Be patient, then brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.  See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.  You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Waiting is a part of life.  Even in […]
