Inspiring Others to Live Life Purposefully

Narrow or Wide?

Posted on August 30, 2015 Written by LiKeisha Leave a Comment

matthew.7.13-14Matthew 7:13-14 ~ Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Finding the narrow gate or staying on the narrow path can sometimes feel like a daunting task.  It would be so much easier to take the wide gate; the worldly way, the short cut or the easy route.  But as this scripture points out, that broad road leads to destruction, unhappiness, joylessness, hurt and pain.

So your question may then be how do I find this narrow gate, God’s plan and purpose for me?  And when I find it, how do I stay on track?  Well, if you back up a few verses in Matthew 7, the word of God provides guidance.

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks the door will be opened. ~ Matthew 7: 7-8

If we take time to sincerely ask God for His wisdom, guidance and a discerning spirit, He has promised to give it.  The problem for many of us is not in the asking, but in the waiting for a response.  We ask and keep going without ever taking the time to be still and hear God’s voice.  When we take time to stop and be quiet – that means no TV, radio, cell phone, computer, etc. – it allows us to hear Him and allows the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s next step for you.

So I encourage you to get alone with God; spend time in prayer, reading and mediating on His word.  Allow God to drape you in His love.  He will direct you through the gate and onto the road that He has destined your life to journey on.

Prayer: Lord, guide me and help me to choose Your path. Help me to not be distracted and be misled down the wide path just because it’s popular or more traveled. Amen.

Purpose in Action: Which paths are ahead of you today? Take the time to pray and seek God’s guidance for direction.

For His Purpose,

LiKeisha

Change of Season

December 13, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ~ There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Christ was born so that none of us would have to experience the seasons of life alone, whether they are joyous or seasons of sorrow. Just as we have seasons of the year, there are seasons in […]

Overcoming Lonely Places

December 6, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Luke 5:16 ~ But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (NIV) Some of you may be more familiar with the King James translation of this scripture that says Jesus withdrew into the wilderness.  I always just looked at this verse as Jesus taking time to be alone to pray, which we all should […]

Patiently Waiting

November 29, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

James 5:7-8 ~ Be patient, then brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.  See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.  You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Waiting is a part of life.  Even in […]
