Inspiring Others to Live Life Purposefully

Have it your way… Really?

psalm-119.15-16-300x201Psalm: 119:15-16 ~ I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your words.

Many of us apply the old Burger King slogan, “Have it your way” to every part of our lives. The world has conditioned many of us to think that we should have what we want, how we want it, and when we want it. However, when you combine that way of thinking with the selfish sinful nature that we all struggle with, that leads to a path of self-destruction.

For the most part, I grew up as an only child. We didn’t have much, but my mother worked hard to provide my needs and many of my wants.   And there is nothing wrong with that. The problem comes in when we begin to think that we deserve the things that we want and we should get them no matter what the consequences are and regardless of how they may affect others. I have to admit there have been some times when I wanted what I wanted and tried to manipulate things to get it. That was purely about my selfish desires. And we all know that when we manipulate to get things, there is no true peace with it or it doesn’t last long.

It takes effort to get beyond ourselves. But we don’t have to do it alone; God has given us His word to be our guide. When we take the time to study and mediate on God’s word, it will change us from within. It breaks down those selfish desires and helps us to look beyond ourselves to see how we can be a blessing to others. There is an explainable peace that comes from the Word of God and how it can transform your life. But we must first do our part instilling God’s word within us.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for Your word that gives us guidance and helps us to understand Your precepts and Your ways. Help us to be obedient and not neglect Your words but instead delight in them. Amen.

Purpose in Action: How much time are you spending in and meditating on God’s word? If your spirit is convicting you that you are not spending enough time, pray about how you can carve out more time to spend with God.

For His Purpose,

Change of Season

December 13, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Ecclesiastes 3:1 ~ There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. Christ was born so that none of us would have to experience the seasons of life alone, whether they are joyous or seasons of sorrow. Just as we have seasons of the year, there are seasons in […]

Overcoming Lonely Places

December 6, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

Luke 5:16 ~ But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (NIV) Some of you may be more familiar with the King James translation of this scripture that says Jesus withdrew into the wilderness.  I always just looked at this verse as Jesus taking time to be alone to pray, which we all should […]

Patiently Waiting

November 29, 2015 By LiKeisha Leave a Comment

James 5:7-8 ~ Be patient, then brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.  See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.  You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Waiting is a part of life.  Even in […]
